Corporate Jamaica Urged to Give More

Members of the country’s business community are being urged to give more to institutions and organisations that care for the less fortunate and the more vulnerable persons in the society.
The call has come from Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen, who, along with Her Excellency Lady Allen, recently witnessed the handing over of two computers by Guardian Life to the St. Elizabeth Infirmary in Santa Cruz.
“We would encourage the business community and other corporate Jamaicans to get involved with these institutions,” the Governor- General said, while commending Guardian Life for making the donation.
“I trust that the gifts will help with your work, and that it is carried out more efficiently for the benefit of those who cannot help themselves at this time,” he added.
Senior Life Underwriter at Guardian Life, Denny Heath, who made the presentation, said that the company “did not hesitate” when the request was made for the equipment.
“We regard this as part our community outreach and we moved quickly to supply them. Guardian Life is in the business of looking after life, not only for our policy holders, but to work with institutions like these that are taking care of persons, who cannot care for themselves,” he noted.
In expressing gratitude, Matron at the facility, Joycelyn Bryan, said that the computers will assist in the day-to- day operations of the facility.
“They will help us to expedite our duties, and we are grateful to Guardian Life for the positive response to our request,” she stated.
