June 24, 2009

The Full Story

The Corn Piece Citizens’ Association in Clarendon has honoured several outstanding community members and organisations, for outstanding achievement and contribution to the development of the community.
Among the honourees, who were recognised at an award ceremony held recently at the White Road Basic School in Hayes, were: Acting Vice Principal of the Vere Technical High School, Oneil Lewin; Head Boy of Glenmuir High School, Kelton Edwards; retired Principal of the White Road Basic School, Valerie Moodie-Williams; Power Services Company Limited; and Streetlink Janitorial Services.
Executive member of the Corn Piece Citizens’ Association, Jeanette Brown, herself an awardee, informed JIS News that “we are determined in our quest towards community development, amidst all the challenges, difficulties and setbacks we have and are facing. We continue to stand and be functional.”
“This evening, we are here to award persons, community members, who we believe, have, and are striving for excellence; persons who have achieved and continue to make a positive impact on our community. Too often, we spend time belabouring the negatives, and the positives go unnoticed. This evening, I am specifically proud that, as a community, we are about to change that norm and create our positive solution. We continue to play our part, as leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination,” she added.
