Contract Approved for Phase Three of Mo’bay Sports Complex

Cabinet on (July 30) awarded a contract valued at more than US$11million to Presport Joint Venture for the construction of the Montego Bay Sports Complex (Phase Three), at Catherine Hall in St. James.
Minister of Information and Development, Donald Buchanan who was speaking at the post Cabinet press-briefing at Jamaica House explained that existing work to the facility included the provision of an all weather track and football field, as well as the provision of infrastructure such as roads, water supply, drainage, sewerage, and electricity.
The current phase of the project, he noted will consist of the construction of two new spectator stands, changing rooms, public access ways, ticket booths, an entrance feature and external security fencing, car parking areas, exterior walkways and promenades, fire detection and extinguishing system, as well as electrical installation works.
The Montego Bay Sports Complex is designed to accommodate approximately 7,000 persons and to house facilities for track and field, tennis, netball and football. Construction is expected to be completed within the next 18 months.
