The Full Story

Businesspersons in Mandeville are being invited to participate in the Companies Office of Jamaica’s (COJ) two-day outreach, slated for February 2 to February 3 at the Golf View Hotel.
“This year, we are targeting in particular, company directors, managers, secretaries and accountants,” explained Compliance field officer with the COJ, Keith Andrade.
He is encouraging companies to “take advantage of this opportunity to file outstanding annual returns and company documents.please remember to present your company’s TRN (tax registration number) and individual tax registration numbers and of course, up to three certified passport size photographs,” he advised.
Mr. Andrade pointed out that it was critical for all entrepreneurs, regardless of the size of their business to “do the right thing” by registering their operations, so “if you are a barber or hairdresser, please come and meet with us. We will be on hand ready to guide you so that at the end of the day, you will have your compliance documents.”
He noted that, “this is in keeping with the requirements of the law as given the recent amendments to the Company’s Act, it is now very easy for one to register as a small sole trader, partnership or even a company. Our staff will be on hand to lend whatever help that you may require to properly file your documents.we even have an express service for those who might need such a facility,” he indicated.
Mr. Andrade has also invited non-governmental organisations or charitable societies to attend, noting that they could also benefit from registering.
Through its mobile unit, the COJ, formerly the Office of the Registrar of Companies, visits various locations across the island on a regular basis.
For further information interested persons can contact the COJ at 908-4419-24.
