The Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ), formerly Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC), will be conducting mobile services in the parishes ofSt. Elizabeth and Manchester to improve the compliance of companies in filing annual returns.
Speaking with JIS News, Compliance Manager at the COJ, Christine Morris-Gillespie, explained that the outreach was part of the agency’s public education and awareness campaign and would be conducted from January 31 and February 3. The activity, she said, “provides an opportunity for persons in these parishes to file any documents, which relate to companies and registered businesses.”
She noted that 2005 annual returns were now due and become overdue after January 2006. Pointing to the importance of filing the relevant documents, Mrs. Morris-Gillespie said that the “annual returns contain a company’s information on the registered office, current list of directors, shareholders and their shareholding; share details and transactions for the year.”
The venues and times for the mobiles are: Heart Trust/NTA Vocational Training Centre, Main Street, Junction, St. Elizabeth on January 31; St. Elizabeth Co-op Credit Union at Beadles Plaza, Santa Cruz on February 1; and Golf View Hotel, 5
