Community Forum on Jamaica in Miami March 30

A community forum on how Jamaica will seek to overcome challenges in 2010 and beyond, will be held tomorrow (March 30), at the Signature Grand, in Fort Lauderdale, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The event is being hosted by the Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS), Miami, in the United States.
Guest speaker will be President of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ), Mr. Joseph Matalon, who will speak on the topic – ‘Your Jamaica: Overcoming the challenges in 2010 and beyond’.
According to Manager of the VMBS, Florida office, Ms. Suzette Rochester, the aim of the forum is to engage members of the Diaspora in discussion on the current economic situation, and the possible implications of the Jamaica Debt Exchange (JDX) programme and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement.
Other speakers will include senior executives of the Victoria Mutual Group, including the Chairman, Mr. Roy Hutchinson, and President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Richard Powell.
The staff of VMBS will officially declare its Miami location open to the public in a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony at County Square Shopping Centre, in Miami Gardens, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Participating in the ceremony will be the Mayor of Miami Gardens, Ms. Shirley Gibson, Consul-General, Mrs. Sandra Grant Griffiths, executives and clients of VMBS.
This location is the first branch of the VMBS Group in the United States of America and will offer a wide range of financial services and products to nearly 400,000 Jamaicans and other nationals living in the tri-county South Florida community as well as in other communities across the Southern USA.
