The Full Story

Customers registering businesses and companies with the Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ) will continue to experience longer processing time as the Agency’s express services remain suspended beyond the previously stated date of December 7, 2015.

Persons registering companies and businesses will experience a seven and five day turnaround time, respectively. The Agency’s express and guaranteed service times are expected to be restored within the next three to four weeks.

According to Shellie Leon, Deputy CEO, “The COJ apologizes for the disruption in service and the short notice provided to our customers but we wish to assure you that the Agency and the TAJ are working assiduously to implement the necessary system adjustment in the shortest possible time”.

The extension is as a result of the unavailability of the Agency’s web service platform to generate Tax Registration Numbers (TRN) and Tax Compliance Certificates following the launch of the Tax Administration of Jamaica’s Revenue Administration Information System (RAiS) Phase Two.

To continue facilitating registration, the COJ is asking customers to present their TRNs or drivers’ licence when conducting business.

The web service is used by the COJ as a part of our ‘one-stop business registration service’. A list of affected services can be viewed via the agency’s website and social media pages.
