Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), Carmen Tipling, is among six persons to be honoured by the Kingston Technical High School (KTHS) Past Students’ Association, New York chapter, on Saturday, June 3.
In addition to Mrs. Tipling, who is a past student and former Head Girl of the school, others to be recognized for their outstanding and dedicated service to the wider Jamaican community and the school in general are: Loxley G. Comrie, past student and former teacher and school Board Chairman, and Keith C. Binns, past student and Insurance Executive.
Those to be honoured posthumously are: Hugh H. Atkins, former Acting Principal, who served from l964 to 1965; Egbert C. Phillips, former Head of the Engineering Department, and the Rev. Father Roy Campbell, who coached the school football team to win the Walker Cup in 1962.
The recognition ceremony will be held at a gala awards banquet, at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Queens, and is part of activities to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the school.
Proceeds from the event will be used to assist the refurbished library and information centre at the school.
