CARICOM Diplomats to Meet with Constituents on Summit Issues

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassadors and Consuls General in South Florida will meet with their constituents on April 13 at a town hall meeting, to discuss relevant issues for the upcoming Summit between Caribbean leaders and US President, George Bush, in June.
The meeting will be held at the African American Research Library in Fort Lauderdale, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Consul General for Jamaica, Ricardo Allicock has appealed to all Caribbean nationals to attend the meeting, noting that the forum would be an opportunity for meaningful discussion on issues relevant to the Diasporic community.
Friday’s meeting will help to form part of the discussions for the two-day Summit to be held June 19 to 21 in Washington, D.C. Matters to be discussed include a wide range of topics affecting the Caribbean Diaspora, such as immigration, employment, trade and economic development.
A meeting to finalize plans for the forum will be held on April 12 at the Nova Southeastern University Business School in Davie, for the Caribbean Consular Corps, along with several community organization leaders.
Similar meetings have already been convened in Caribbean communities throughout the United States.
