Cabinet Retreat Continues

The Cabinet will continue in retreat throughout the weekend to examine the state of the country's economy, the social challenges and to chart the way forward.
The status of the current IMF agreement, the prospects for a new agreement, a preliminary examination of the programmes and spending priorities for the fiscal year beginning April 2012, growth strategies and job creation were examined. The Cabinet also looked at the priorities for the remainder of the financial year and the tabling of the second supplementary estimates in the Parliament.
Cabinet members were reminded of the need to look at ways to promote economic growth with job creation and efficiency while maintaining fiscal prudence.
The retreat continues today and will be followed by the regular sitting of the Cabinet on Monday.
