Cabinet has confirmed the appointment of the new board members for the Development Bank of Jamaica.
Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Carlton Davies, will chair the board, which comprises Dr. Wesley Hughes, Eifert Daley, Imani Duncan, Albert Grey, Myrtle Halsal, Aubyn Hill, Tasha Manley, Ann-Marie Rhoden, Richard Sadhi, Pastor Neville Wright and a representative from Jamaica Promotions Corporations (JAMPRO).
Minister of Information and Development, Donald Buchanan, told yesterday’s (Nov.1) post Cabinet press briefing that, “the new board will identify and appoint a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who will also sit on the board. This is to give effect to the development agenda, which has been addressed over the years by the National Investment Bank of Jamaica, and the Development Bank of Jamaica. It is now the responsibility of the Development Bank to go forward with that programme.”
A task force, headed by Professor Alvin Wint, was given the mandate to review the operations of the Development Bank and the National Investment Bank of Jamaica.
A recommendation was made for the merger of the two institutions, which took effect from the first of September. The board will operate for a three-year period effective November 1.
