September 16, 2010

The Full Story

Cabinet has approved a variation to the contract for the Bogue Road Improvement Project, under the Northern Coastal Highway Improvement Project Segment 1A.
The change will see over $697 million more being spent on the project, which was originally budgeted at $1.39 billion.
The increased funding will facilitate changes in the scope of work, to allow for the completion of Sections 1 and 2 of Segment 1A of the North Coast Highway Project, and pay for the cost of time extension s as well as claims.
About $318.5 million will go towards the payment of fluctuations due to price adjustments in labour, fuel, cement and other materials.
The Bogue Road Improvement Project was designed and divided into three sections, to allow for the execution of the works on a phased basis, due to financial constraints. The new completion date for the project is the end of October.
