The Full Story

A contract has been awarded to Latmar Enterprise limited in the sum of $15,942,664, to supply and deliver general construction material to the Morris Meadows Housing Development (Phase 2) in Portmore, St. Catherine.
This contract was approved by Cabinet, on (July 23), at Jamaica House. “The development plan for the Morris Meadows Housing Project along Grange Lane, Portmore, St. Catherine, calls for the construction of 150 two- bedroom units (774 sq. ft. each) on 5.25 hectares of land,” Minister of Information and Development, Donald Buchanan said at the weekly post Cabinet press briefing, held at Jamaica House.
“Presently, infrastructure work has been completed, and the requisite areas to support recreational or community activities have been reserved in keeping with planning requirements,” he said.
He added that phase two of this project called for the National Housing Trust to construct 48 of the 150 housing units, under the Labour and Small Materials Programmes.
