Building at St. Ann’s Bay Hospital Named in Honour of Dr. Wilson

The Outpatient, Accident and Emergency Building at the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital in St. Ann has been named in honour of the late Dr. Warren W. ‘Buddy’ Wilson.Dr. Wilson, an outstanding surgeon and Senior Medical Officer (SMO), served the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital for over 30 years.
On hand for the naming of the building on February 11 was Minister of Health, John Junor. “We want to ensure that the Dr. Warren W. ‘Buddy’ Wilson Accident and Emergency Unit will be able to provide the quality care that was the hallmark of the doctor for many years,” Minister Junor said.

The new building at the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, which ahs been named in honour of the late Dr. W. ‘Buddy’ Wilson, who served the hospital for 30 years.

“This can only be achieved if we emulate his life, do what needs to be done and strive always for excellence in our service delivery,” he added.
He commended the staff at the hospital for the work they have been doing and urged them to continue to serve the public effectively.
The Minister also paid tribute to personnel of the North East Regional Health Authority for the many innovations they have implemented in that region, and which are being adopted islandwide.
Former CEO of the hospital, Gwen Hamilton told JIS News that no hour was too late for Dr. Wilson to perform his duties.
“Even now his forays into the late hours of night in the operating theatre with his younger colleagues remain a constant talking point,” she said.
Also attending the ceremony were, Radcliffe O. Walters, Custos of the parish; Dr. Michael Whittingham, Board Chairman; Shahine Robinson, Member of Parliament for North East St. Ann; and family members of Dr. Wilson.
