Bank Account Opens in Miami For Donations

The Jamaica Consulate General in Miami has established an account at the HSBC Bank, Florida, for donations to assist in the recovery efforts, in the aftermath of Hurricane Dean, which devastated parts of Jamaica on August 19.
Monetary donations can be made to the Hurricane Dean Relief Fund – account #389076767 – at any branch of the HSBC Bank.
Donations in the form of money orders can also be mailed to the Jamaica Consulate at 25 Southeast Second Avenue, Suite 609, Miami, Florida 33131.Several Jamaican community groups and businesses have collaborated with the Consulate to assist in the island’s relief effort. These include a number of shipping companies, churches and charitable associations.
Meanwhile, six community associations in the Palm Beach County has consolidated efforts to ship urgently needed supplies to the parish of St. Thomas. These include the United Sports and Cultural Club, the Caribbean Association of Regional Educators (CARE), the Caribbean American Friends for Community Involvement (CAFCI), the Jamaicans of Palm Beaches, the Grace Episcopal Church and business partners, H.R. Developers.
The shipment, a 20-foot container, has been loaded with relief supplies, such as water, non-perishable foods, first aid kits and medical supplies, water, tarpaulin, and infant-related items.
President of the United Sports and Cultural Club, Howard Duncanson, has indicated that this shipment was intended to fill an immediate need in the St. Thomas area.
