The banana industry is well on its way to achieving the pre Hurricane Ivan production target of an average of 770 tonnes weekly and 50,000 tonnes per year.
State Minister for Agriculture, Errol Ennis, in his contribution to the 2005/06 Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on June 22, noted that the signs were already positive, with the industry able to ship out 228.53 tonnes on its first week of resuming exports in May and the figure increasing to 642.76 tonnes by the first week of June.
