Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, has congratulated the Men's 4 x 100 Metres Relay team at the London Olympics, describing their performance as "truly brilliant and extraordinary".
"The team of (Nesta) Carter, (Michael) Frater, (Yohan) Blake and (Usain) Bolt, again, brought glory to Jamaica, setting a new World Record of 36.84 seconds. It was a crowning end to the track & field events at the Olympics and one which the world will speak of for a long time. I cannot leave out young Kemar Bailey-Cole who, although he did not run in the final, must take some of the credit for the splendid performance of the team in the semi-finals. We have ended the 2012 Games with our best medal tally ever and all Jamaica is truly proud of the team – every single member, for holding high the reputation of Jamaica in international sport. I congratulate them and look forward to welcoming home everyone," Mrs. Simpson Miller said.
