Ambassador Shirley to Address Charity Gala of COJO

Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States (US), Professor Gordon Shirley, will deliver the keynote address at the 10th annual charity gala of the Children Of Jamaica Outreach (COJO) of New York on December 4.
The event, proceeds from which will benefit inner-city children in Jamaica and New York City, will take place at 8:00 p.m., at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York.
Jamaica’s Consul General to New York, Dr. Basil K. Bryan will head the list of distinguished individuals and organizations to be recognized for their unselfish commitment to COJO and its mission over the years. Others include the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Air Jamaica Ltd., Dennis Shipping Company and TransContinental Express Shippers.
COJO is a registered not-for-profit organization in New York, with a mission to help improve the health, education and general well-being of under-privileged children.
Founded by Jamaican, Gary Williams, the group has supported a number of institutions in Jamaica and the US. These include Alpha Boys’ Home, Glenhope Place of Safety, Marigold Child Care Centre and the Musgrave Girls’ Home in Jamaica; and Queens Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) and Leaf of Life Fund in New York.
