Ambassador Elinor Sherlock Appointed Chief of State Protocol

Former Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba, Elinor Sherlock, has been appointed Chief of State Protocol at the Office of the Prime Minister.
Her current mission is to co-ordinate all areas of protocol in the Government service for State, Ceremonial, and Official Visits.
She will advise on matters of State Protocol to the Governor-General, Prime Minister, the Cabinet, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and other Government agencies. Ambassador Sherlock’s role will involve advising on the application of conventions, formalities, courtesies and roles of official protocol and etiquette in respect of occasions that involve the Prime Minister.
As Chief of State Protocol, Ambassador Sherlock will work alongside other key agencies in the planning and execution of programmes for visiting Heads of State, Government and High officials – such as Heads and Delegations of International Organisations.
The Office of the Chancery will also benefit from her oversight. The Chancery is the office for the endowment of National Honours and Awards; the Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for Services to Education; the Uniformed Services for the Medal of Honour; the Biennial Medal for Services to Science and Technology and other awards.
Ambassador Sherlock brings several key skills to her job. She is an educator and an experienced translator of French and Spanish. She has also been the Conference Services Manager at the Jamaica Conference Centre.
Ambassador Sherlock holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Spanish from the University of Toronto, a Masters of Science in International Relations and Public Administration, as well as a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of the West Indies.
She succeeds Mr. Colin Robb who held the position of Secretary General of the Chancery of the Societies of Honours. Mr. Robb served in the Chancery for 19 years and demitted office at the end of May 2009.
