Garfield Higgins has been integrally involved in education, training, journalism, event planning, public relations, teacher trade unionism and human development for 27 years. During those years he has worked as a teacher, school principal, college lecturer, college warden and the first Manager for Student Services and Development at the UWI, Mona-Western Jamaica Campus.
Mr. Higgins is also a researcher. He writes poems, several of which have been published in the Jamaica Observer. He earned a diploma in Education from Mico University College, First Class Honours Degree in Journalism from UWI, Mona and a Masters Degree in Student Personnel Administration and Management from UWI, Mona.
Mr. Higgins is a columnist for the Sunday Observer, host of the Evening Edition on and Newstalk 93 FM, media contractor and consultant. He also currently serves as senior advisor to the Minister of Education, Youth and Information.
Mr. Higgins has a passion for education. He believes in a better Jamaica for all Jamaicans.
