President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) and Chairman of the Denbigh Show Committee, Norman Grant, has given the assurance that adequate security will be in place for the 65th Annual Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show.
In an interview with JIS News, Mr. Grant said that security will be boosted with the installation of a surveillance system and the addition of Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) personnel.
This is in addition to the police and private security persons who are usually part of the security arrangements for the event, he added.
More than 100,000 persons are expected to attend the three-day event which will be held on the Denbigh Showground in May Pen, Clarendon, from August 5-7, under the theme: ‘Grow What You Eat…Eat What You Grow – a Salute to Our Farmers, Nation Builders’.
Patrons from Kingston and St. Andrew and parts of St. Catherine who will be attending the show will have an opportunity to travel in style and comfort on premium buses.
The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will again provide transportation services from the Half-Way Tree Transport Centre, Portmore Mall and Spanish Town Transport Centre. Park and ride passengers will be accommodated at the Lyndhurst Road Depot.
The cost is $1,700 per adult and $1,400 per child round trip.
Children under three years old will travel free.
Buses will depart the Lyndhurst Road Depot at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.; Half-Way Tree Transport Centre at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.; Portmore Mall Lay-by at 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and the Spanish Town Transport Centre at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Departure times from Denbigh will be 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., daily.
Tickets outlets are: JUTC Greater Portmore Office; JUTC Downtown Hub and the Spanish Town and Half-Way Tree Transport Centres.
