Access Road to Riverton Landfill to be Completed

The Government will be spending $182.5 million to complete the repair of the access road to the Riverton City Landfill in St. Andrew.

This is to improve utilisation of the landfill, and reduce downtime and operating costs for garbage trucks.

The money has been provided in the 2016/17 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.

To be undertaken by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), the works include: completing the construction of the 1.6 kilometres of concrete pavement; construction of drains along the roadway; and the construction of sidewalks.

The project, which is slated to be completed in March 2017, is being implemented with funding from the Mexican Government.
