95 Per Cent of Traffic Signals Working – NWA

The National Works Agency (NWA) has reported that approximately 95 per cent of the traffic lights in Kingston and St. Andrew, and St. Catherine were now functioning.
Senior Communications Officer at the NWA, Petra-keane Williams told JIS News that traffic signals not yet in working order in Kingston and St. Andrew were: Lady Musgrave and Seaview Avenue; Hopefield Avenue; Mountain View Avenue and Arthur Wint Drive; Church and Barry Streets; and Harbour Street and South Camp Road.
She explained that except for the lights at Harbour Street and South Camp Road, all the others had sustained voltage problems.
Meanwhile, Intelligence and Transportation System Specialist at the NWA, Michael Saunderson, informed JIS News that most of the damaged lights were located on temporary platforms.
“These were traffic signal installations that were put up on a temporary basis. However, we are looking at installing them permanently,” he said.
At a recent press conference, Communications and Customer Relations Manager at the NWA, Vando Palmer, pointed out that the agency had submitted a list to the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo) and was working closely with the light and power company to get the remaining traffic lights in working order.
