$7M more for Alexandria Police Station

Cabinet has approved a variation amount of $7.2 million to a contract awarded to ShareCon Limited, to complete the construction of the Alexandria Police Station in St. Ann.
Speaking at Wednesday’s (November 24) Post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, noted that the variation amounted to 23.8 per cent of the original contract sum of $ 30.2 million.
He explained that it resulted from the need to meet requisite standards established by the St. Ann Parish Council, and issued August 2006, prior to the tender process.
