69 Flights Weekly from Canada January to April 2011

Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett says that during the upcoming winter season, Jamaica will see more flights coming from Canada than ever before, with a total of 69 flights weekly from January 1 to April 30, 2011.
During the similar period last season, the total number of weekly flights to the island was 55.
“Canada continues to be our number one growth market and the increase in airlifts is a strong statement of the growing confidence Canadians have in destination Jamaica,” Mr. Bartlett said on September 20, at the World Routes Development Forum taking place in Vancouver, Canada.
Canadians will have coast-to-coast non-stop flight options to Jamaica, as a result of the recent announcement by WestJet Vacations that they will offer new non-stop flights from seven additional Canadian gateways to Jamaica for the 2010-2011 winter season.

The company currently offers services from Montego Bay daily from Toronto, but beginning in November, the seven new cities will be Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina and Montreal. Two flights per week will be offered from Winnipeg while the other six gateways will see weekly service. WestJet has also been providing weekly service from Ottawa since the 2009-2010 season.
Combined, the seven new routes offer a capacity in excess of 24,000 seats to Montego Bay over the coming winter season. This is in addition to the daily service from Toronto and the weekly flight from Ottawa.
Also new this winter season, residents of Moncton, New Brunswick, in Eastern Canada, will be able to fly non-stop to Montego Bay once-a-week with Sunwing Airlines and Signature Vacations.
A range of partners, including Air Canada Vacations, Air Jamaica, Thomas Cook/Sunquest Holidays, Sunwing Airlines, Transat Holidays and WestJet Vacations will be offering a diverse selection of options.
