$58 Million to Upgrade Police Station at Brooks Avenue

Cabinet has approved the award of a contract valued at more than $58 million to HDB Construction Company Limited, to refurbish premises at 11 Brooks Avenue in May Pen, Clarendon which will house the May Pen Police Station divisional headquarters.
Minister of Information, Senator Burchell Whiteman, who made the disclosure at the March 15 post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, said that the work to be done included the redesigning and refurbishing of the building.
He explained that the work on the property was necessary to provide the proper facilities to enable the officers to adequately carry out their duties.
Cabinet had previously given approval for the proceeds from the sale of the existing police station in May Pen to go towards the refurbishing of the new facilities.
