Cabinet has approved a contract valued at $47.97 million to carry out rehabilitation work on the Roadhouse to Whitehouse Parish Council road in St. Catherine.

The contract has been awarded to Micro Surfacing Limited.

Information Minister, Senator the Hon. Sandrea Falconer, who made the disclosure at today’s (December 9) Jamaica House press briefing, informed that the approximately seven-kilometre roadway serves the communities of Pleasant Farm, Natty Farm, Whitehouse and McGrath.

It is also used in transporting bauxite from Windalco.

“It is in need of urgent repairs and poses a danger to both motorists and pedestrians. Funding for this road repair project will come from the road Maintenance Fund,” Minister Falconer stated.

Work will commence this month and will last for four months.
