The Full Story

A total of 3,492 housing solutions are expected to be constructed over the next 36 months under the Jamaica Economic Housing Programme (JEHP), Minister with responsibility for Housing, Hon. Dr. Morais Guy, has disclosed.

The JEHP is an agreement between the governments of Jamaica and the Republic of China, to provide housing solutions, particularly for tourism workers and lower income wage earners.

Dr. Guy made the disclosure on July 10, during his contribution to the 2012/13 Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives.

He informed that to date, two works contracts with an aggregate value of US$19 million have been executed with Chinese company COMPLANT, for the first section of the works programme.

The projects include the execution of the main water and sewer infrastructure works to serve the St. Ann cluster of projects, as well as completion of the Brownfield projects at Belle Air, also in the parish.
