$25.6 Million To Purchase Accident and Emergency Equipment for Seven Hospitals

Cabinet has given its approval for the award of a $25.6 million contract to Scientific and Medical Supplies Limited, for the procurement of accident and emergency equipment for seven hospitals across the island.
Minister of Information and Development, Donald Buchanan made the announcement at the weekly post-Cabinet press briefing yesterday (February 26), at Jamaica House.
Mr. Buchanan informed that the equipment would be distributed to the Kingston Public, Cornwall Regional, St. Ann’s Bay, Linstead, Falmouth and Spanish Town Hospitals, and the University Hospital of the West Indies.
Cabinet also approved a contract in the sum of $15 million to Jamaica Electrical Technologies Limited, to purchase and install 12 radiographic X-ray processors.
The Minister said that the processors would be installed at the Kingston Public, Cornwall Regional, National Chest, Noel Holmes, Savanna-la-Mar, Falmouth, Percy Junor, and the Spanish Town Hospitals.
A contract in the amount of $23 million was also approved for Another Star is Born Construction Company Limited, to carry out landscaping works in the vicinity of the Kingston Craft Market in downtown Kingston.
