National Baking also plans to produce a television series on the 11 companies to show the planning, interaction with suppliers, diligence and hard work that goes into building a successful manufacturing business.

Speaking at the function, Chairman of Continental Baking, Gary Hendrickson, praised the entrepreneurs for introducing and promoting products that have been made in Jamaica, using mostly local resources, rather than sitting on their assets.
“The fact that we can proudly declare ‘made in Jamaica’ is what gives real meaning to this campaign,” he stated.
Mr. Hendrickson said the ‘Bold Ones’ programme aims to motivate Jamaicans to consider manufacturing as a viable business option and the solution to the country’s growth problem.
“There exists a notion in some quarters that the manufacturing industry is an informal exercise, another hustle. What our team encountered on our visits to these companies and their operations should more than dispel that notion. We found talented, skilled and competent persons resourcefully dealing with the challenges that operating in our prevailing climate presents,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the recognised companies, Owner of Chocolate Dreams, Michelle Smith, thanked Continental Baking for showing interest in young companies and for introducing the ‘Bold Ones’ programme.
“Through your wisdom you are giving ‘The Bold Ones’ the opportunity to soar to new heights in a tremendously difficult economic environment,” she stated.
