The
Ministry is assigned specific
responsibilities for water & housing. The Ministry seeks to meet the following objectives.
Water
•
Provide the island with an adequate supply and suitable quality
of water for domestic, commercial and agricultural purposes
•
Monitor
weather conditions in order to issue reliable and timely advisories
islandwide
•
Increase
the Ministry’s capability to respond to disasters and
emergency incidents, and reduce the effects of hazards and disasters
through the application of mitigating measures
Housing
•
Develop
and implement a national human settlement strategy to facilitate
the provision of shelter by devising resource management measures
to enhance the social and economic well being of the nation.
The Ministry is assigned responsibility for the programme concerned
with the provision of housing for the nation.
