UK Donation For Young Jamaican Cancer Patient

The Full Story

A sum of 350 Pounds sterling (J$37,500) has been donated to help fund the treatment for young Jamaican cancer patient, 10 year-old Yanique Edwards.
The money has been realised from the fund-raising efforts of the Burton Caribbean Association in Burton Upon Trent and from Jamaican teacher, Marie Williams who collected funds from colleagues at the Joseph Lancaster Primary School in South East London.
This followed recent reports about Yanique’s plight in the Jamaican newspapers. Yanique is suffering from a rare form of cancer, Nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
According to the reports, Yanique needs almost one million dollars to cover the cost of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
The High Commission has sent the UK funds to the Jamaican Overseas Department for disbursement.An account for Yanique’s treatment has been opened at the Bank of Nova Scotia. The account number is 801912. Deposits to this account may be made at any of the Bank of Nova Scotia branches islandwide.
