The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) will be staging a series of town hall meetings across the country beginning Monday (March 12) in an effort to connect with its gaming stakeholders.

The meetings are intended to be an avenue for the commission to share updates on developments and to discuss matters of concern to players in Jamaica’s gaming industry.

Manager of Corporate Affairs and Communication at the BGLC, Jeanette Lewis, told JIS NEWS that “we want this to be a very engaging, interactive and dynamic conversation.”

“It is an opportunity for the industry stakeholders to talk to us, give us feedback, (for us to) address any questions they may have, and to give updates on what is happening, and what they can look forward to in terms of gaming in Jamaica,” she added.

Persons being targeted for the town hall meetings include machine operators; operators of establishments where gaming machines are located (operators of prescribed premises); gaming machine manufacturers; patrons of gaming establishments, among others.

The first meeting will be held at the Hibiscus Lodge Hotel in Ocho Rios on March 12 at 4:00 pm.

Montego Bay will host the second of the meetings on Tuesday (March 13) at the Montego Bay Cultural Centre at 2:00 pm, followed by Kingston on March 15 at the Terra Nova Hotel beginning at 5:00 pm.

On March 19 and 20, the meetings will be held at the Sean Lavery Faith Hall, 26 Lewis Street Savanna-La-Mar and Mandeville Hotel, Mandeville respectively, at 4:00 pm.

The final meeting will be held at the Portmore Heart Academy in Portmore on March 22 at 5:00 pm.

Ms. Lewis is encouraging new and existing stakeholders to attend the meetings as information on the gaming licensing process and fees will be shared.

Anti-money laundering, responsible gaming, as well as the code of conduct, which is to be implemented, will also be discussed.
