Tax Services Expo at Mind on May 5

May 3, 2004

The Full Story

That area of Jamaican economic life, with which the public has a love-hate relationship – taxes – will come into full public glare at the upcoming Tax Services Exposition, to be held by the Management Institute for National Development (MIND) and the Ministry of Finance and Planning on Wednesday May 5, at MIND’s Old Hope Road campus.
The exposition, which will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will feature a number of booths, where the public can apprise themselves of relevant information, have their personal tax challenges dealt with, apply for and receive their Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) and a Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC), as well as join various speakers’ sessions and panel discussions.
All five tax departments will be represented at the Tax Services Expo, namely: the Tax Administration Services Department; the Taxpayer Audit & Assessment Department; the Inland Revenue Department; the Taxpayer Appeals Department and Jamaica Customs.
The Exposition will prove to be an excellent opportunity for persons to benefit from expert advice and instruction on tax refunds, to get first hand knowledge of tax reforms currently in progress, and to get exposure to the new technology being used in the Tax Services system.
The event will also be especially helpful for owners, managers and accounting staff of small to medium-sized enterprises. Finance and Accounts students are also advised to take advantage of this opportunity. Admission is free of cost.
