St. Elizabeth Health Dept. to Stage Health Walk on April 5

On Thursday, April 5, the St. Elizabeth Health Department will be staging a health walk from Top Hill to Yardley Chase Road in the South East section of the parish.
This is being done to encourage persons to get involved in a programme of physical exercise for personal well-being.
Speaking to JIS News, Health Educator with the department, Delphine Grandison noted that the theme for the day would be: ‘Come and Walk for Health’.
“We will be using two routes, one of which will begin at Kinkead Plaza and head to Lovers Leap via the Southfield and Yardley Chase roads, while the second will go from Kinkead to Lovers Leap via the Top Hill Primary School road,” she said. Mrs. Grandison pointed out that the walk would begin at 7:00 a.m.
“We figure that this is the best time, which will allow all the participants to have a breath-taking view of the cliffs at Lovers Leap. We also intend to have structured cooling down games as well as other activities such as healthy lifestyle discussions,” she said.
The Health Educator informed that persons interested in the walk should contact the Department at 965-9175-5 “A number of wellness checks will be conducted for a small fee as well as free body examinations,” she pointed out.
