The Full Story

Over 120 senior citizens from Clarendon benefited from a health fair organized by the Lions Club of the parish on October 5 in celebration of World Service Day.
The health fair was held at the Lions Health Centre on Foga Road in Denbigh.
Ewan Scott, Club President told JIS News that the senior citizens were able to benefit from blood sugar and pressure checks, dental and optical services, consultation with a doctor as well as having prescriptions filled.
“It is always a pleasure to be able to fulfill the mandate of our club when we provide services such as these to persons who are unable to access them frequently. We thought it fitting to target our seniors in celebration of our day of service which is being recognized in over 100 different countries around the world,” he said.
Mr. Scott pointed out that a team of two pharmacists and ten doctors, three of whom are a part of the Lions Club, provided the services to the residents at a cost of $200.
He said the health fair was an annual initiative by the Lions Club and was aimed at meeting the needs of vulnerable groups in the society. He commended several pharmaceutical companies for their donations to the effort.
The Lions Club of Clarendon will celebrate its thirty-third anniversary this year.
