Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Donate US $ 250,000 to Relief Effort

Jamaica continues to benefit from international assistance for its hurricane relief and reconstruction efforts with a donation of US$250,000 from Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
Michael Ronan, Royal Caribbean’s Regional Vice President for Government Relations, made the presentation to Consul General Ricardo Allicock at the Jamaica Consulate in Miami recently.
Mr. Ronan said the company has had a long and meaningful relationship with Jamaica and pledged continuing support during the rebuilding process. He commended the government and tourism interests for moving quickly to restore normality to the cruise shipping industry in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.
Royal Caribbean was one of the first cruise lines to resume calls to Jamaica following the hurricane. Recently, the crew of one of the company’s vessels, the Navigator of the Seas, assisted in clean-up efforts at the St. Ann Infirmary and donated bedding, medical supplies, clothing and tools to the facility.
Consul General Allicock expressed gratitude to the company for the generous donation and other assistance to the country in its time of need.
