A huge explosion at an illegal gas-filling plant on Jacques Road, off Mountain View Avenue in St Andrew, on October 16, left 4 persons critically injured including 2 children, 1 person dying at the scene, 2 subsequently succumbing to their injuries in hospital, several properties severely damaged and numerous persons homeless. The incident has sparked discussions and pronouncement for more stringent penalties under the Petroleum and the Fire Brigade Acts.
