Jamaicans should be able to retain their assigned mobile numbers across networks. This means that as long as persons remain in the same geographic area, they will be able to switch telephone service providers and keep their existing phone numbers. Number portability also allows consumers to choose a service provider, based on service, quality, and price.
There are a number of critical steps involved in implementing number portability.
