Director of Children and Family Programmes at the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA), Warren Thompson (right), displays the cover of a story book to grade-two students at the Bamboo Primary and Junior High School in St. Ann during Read Across Jamaica Day on Tuesday (May 3). Ministry of Education and First Global Bank Music Initiative

Studies have shown that when incorporated into an academic curriculum, music enhances a child’s ability to learn. With this in mind, First Global Bank sought to partner with the Ministry of Education in 2011 to launch a pilot programme that would see music being incorporated into the Grade 3 curriculum of six primary schools.
