The Full Story

Members of the public are being urged to support the ‘Downtown Sizzling Summer Savings’ event, which will be held from July 25 to 27 at the St. William Grant Park.

The three-day mega shopping extravaganza, which is being held in collaboration with the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and the Vendors and Higglers Association forms part of the Government’s ongoing thrust to rebrand downtown Kingston, and also provide an avenue where persons can shop in a safe environment.

Public Relations Officer at the KSAC, Jodiann James, said that shoppers, who come out early, stand to benefit from massive discounts.

“We are encouraging patrons to come out and capitalise on our early bird specials, because this event promises to be an exciting one, which will see downtown transformed into a shopper’s paradise, outfitted to accommodate registered vendors, who will be providing massive discounts on back to school items, household and personal supplies.  Also, while shopping, we want everyone to have fun, because it is really an electrifying family affair,” Ms. James stated.

In addition to three days and nights of discount offerings, from various merchants, there will be attractions such as a kiddies village, food court, live music, as well as a concert on July 27.

The park will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily and there will be 24-hour security provided by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), and private security companies.

Ms. James informed that vendors, who wish to participate in the event, are required to submit a fee of $22,000, along with a valid identification card (ID), Tax Registration Number (TRN), two recent passport size photos, and a food handler’s permit, for those who will be selling food.

The requisite documents should be taken to the St. William Grant Park’s administrative block, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m during the registration period, which is now underway and ends on Friday, July 19.

For further details, persons can contact the KSAC at 967-4196 or 279 0708.
