Public Urged to Participate in JIS Textbook Exchange

By: , August 18, 2017

The Full Story

The Jamaica Information Service (JIS) is inviting members of the public to participate in its textbook exchange programme.

The initiative, conceptualised in 2013 by the agency’s Public Relations and Marketing Department, aims to source and supply second-hand textbooks for students from the primary to tertiary levels, providing some financial relief for parents.

Public Relations and Marketing Manager, Andrea Braham, said that the programme fulfils part of the agency’s corporate social responsibility to positively impact the lives of Jamaicans through information facilitation and sharing.

“There continues to be interest in the programme, and we are very pleased that we have been able to provide this cost-free service to the public. We hope that this will help to engender a culture of care and charity within the society,” she said.

Miss Braham thanked the hundreds of Jamaicans who have donated books to the programme in the past. She is appealing for their continued support and for others to come on board.

Persons who wish to make donations or collect books may do so by visiting the JIS at 58A Half-Way Tree Road, Mondays to Thursdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and on Fridays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

They may also send an email to pr@jis.gov.jm or call 926-3590-4.
