The sixth staging of the Public Sector Customer Service Competition for 2014/2015 will be launched on Thursday, September 18, at the Penthouse, Ministry of Finance and Planning, 30 National Heroes Circle, Kingston, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The competition is a biennial event staged by the Cabinet Office and is one element of the Government’s wider customer service programme, which seeks to transform service delivery in all public sector entities.

The competition recognizes and rewards the use of creativity and innovation to improve customer service delivery. It has also been instrumental as a tool to inspire entities to improve their services. The last staging of the competition attracted 18,000 public votes.

Cabinet Secretary, Ambassador Douglas Saunders, will deliver the opening remarks, providing the context for the competition within the Transformation and Modernisation programme.

The Cabinet Office is partnering with the Jamaica Customer Service Association (JaCSA) to focus public attention on customer service in both private and public sectors.  At the launch, details on National Customer Service Week 2014, which will take place from October 5 to 11, will be provided.

In 2008, the JaCSA was instrumental in getting former Governor-General, the Most Hon. Sir Kenneth Hall, to declare the first week of October, National Customer Service Week.
