Winners of the seventh staging of the Public Sector Customer Service Competition (PSCSC) will be announced at an awards function scheduled to take place on Friday (October 9, 2015) at the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel in Kingston.

The function, which will begin at 11:00 a.m., is being organised by the Office of the Cabinet.

It will be streamed live at  http://thestreamingguys.com/opm/  and persons can also listen to an outside broadcast of the event on RJR FM at http://www.rjr94fm.com/live.php between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Six public sector organisations have been shortlisted in the competition. The entities are: National Health Fund (NHF), Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA), Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA), National Land Agency (NLA), National Housing Trust (NHT) and the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).

Acting Senior Director of the Modernisation Programme Implementation Unit, Public Sector Transformation and Modernisation Programme (PSTMP), Michele Gordon-Somers, told JIS News that all is place for the staging of the event.

“We are prepared. We are excited and the organisations are excited as well. Everybody is wondering who the winners are going to be,” she said.

She noted that public sector entities will be awarded prizes for the Most Responsive Entity, the Most Innovative/Creative Entity, the Most Improved Entity and the Best Customer Service Entity. There will also be prizes for the Best Customer Service Officer and the Most Socially Aware Entity.

“We will also be giving recognition to what we refer to as the ‘Best of Like  Entity’, and that is the best post office, the best police station, the best hospital and the best health centre. Because we want to ensure that we recognise excellence wherever it exists,” she informed.

According to Mrs. Gordon-Somers, the ceremony will showcase “service excellence in our public sector that will assist in entrenching a culture of service throughout the sector as well as provide useful information on new developments in the sector for all stakeholders.”
