Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, thanks all Jamaicans for the warm reception extended by the public to the President of the United States of America, Mr. Barack Obama, during his successful visit from April 8 to 9.

The Prime Minister also extends her gratitude and appreciation, and that of the entire Government, for the Jamaican people’s display of understanding and cooperation with arrangements made for the visit by the US President and 12 visiting Heads of State and Government of the Caribbean Community.

The Prime Minister appreciates the understanding and patience displayed by motorists, other road users and members of the business community, during the periods of road diversions occasioned by security and logistical arrangements for the visit.

Prime Minister Simpson Miller points out that she conveyed to President Obama, the love and support of all Jamaicans and the delight of the entire country with his historic visit to the island. She adds that the successful visit sends a positive signal of the strong relationship that exists between Jamaica and the United States.

“We look forward to the advancement of dialogue and action on areas of commitment and mutual interest discussed during the visit,” the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Simpson Miller is also congratulating all stakeholders from the public and private sectors who worked and gave support to ensure the success of the visit. “I sincerely thank everyone – organisations and individuals in the Government and the private sector – who collaborated in a national effort to ensure that the visit of President Obama and Heads of State and Government of CARICOM, was a success.”
