Portland Registers 53 Labour Day Projects

May 23, 2009

The Full Story

Fifty-three projects have so far been registered with the Portland Labour Day Committee for Labour Day, Monday, May 25.
They include the parish project to beautify the Portland Infirmary in Port Antonio, as well as the painting of schools, paving of roadways, painting of road signs and refurbishing of Government buildings.
The parish project will involve the painting of the Infirmary, cleaning up of the compound, planting of a vegetable garden and demolition of an old derelict building which once served as a dormitory.
Speaking to the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) during an interview on Friday (May 22), Director of Administration at the Portland Parish Council, Mrs. Simone Ingleton, said all arrangements are in place to ensure a successful Labour Day in the parish.
She commended the organisations which have joined in the effort to work on projects to mark the occasion, and exhorted the people of Portland to ensure their success by providing the support necessary to achieve that objective.
