The Full Story

The National Works Agency (NWA) has closed the Suttons Bridge located on the Lower Chapelton to Rock River main road in Clarendon, with immediate effect.

This disclosure has come from Vando Palmer, NWA’s Communication and Customer Services Manager, who revealed that sections of the wing walls and approach to the bridge had collapsed.

Motorists travelling to Chapelton may use the alternative route along Suttons to Turners Four Paths then proceed into Chapelton.

Meanwhile, the Sandy River to Kellits via Rhoden Hall main road, which was initially scheduled to reopen to vehicular traffic today (Sept. 30), will remain closed until Monday, October 4.

According to Mr. Palmer, the reopening of this road had been set back due to “unforeseen circumstances, which have affected the progress of the works”.

However, he said, the NWA was making every effort to restore access to the affected communities, within the shortest possible time.
