Executive Director of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), Dr. Delroy Gordon, is reminding the public that no weapons will be allowed inside the National Stadium for the staging of the grand gala.

The August 6 cultural showcase will culminate activities in celebration of the Jamaica’s 54th anniversary of Independence under the theme: ‘Let’s Get Together and Feel Alright’.

“Absolutely no weapons will be allowed. No bottles, no umbrellas with long shafts, and so on.  The Police will be very vigilant and will enforce the rules to ensure they take care of everyone’s safety,” Mr. Gordon said at a recent JIS Think Tank.

He informed that adequate security measures are in place for the event, with the Jamaica Defence Force and private security firms to provide support to the Police.

The JCDC Executive Director is encouraging patrons to get to the stadium early for the grand gala, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.  Gates will open at 3:00 pm.
