NDTC Performs at Brooklyn Centre

Jamaica’s National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC) treated audiences to two stellar performances at the Brooklyn Centre for the Performing Arts last weekend.
Dr. Basil K. Bryan, Jamaica’s Consul General to New York, lauded the NDTC for presenting the highest quality of Jamaican culture to those at home and overseas.
“The performances were very enlightening and fully appreciated by this community, particularly as it brings back so many wonderful memories of our beloved heritage,” Dr. Bryan said.
Councilwoman Yvette Clarke of the 40th District of Brooklyn, who is of Jamaican descent, presented Professor Rex Nettleford with a proclamation welcoming the NDTC to Brooklyn, and honouring the group for their long tradition of providing audiences the world over with quality performances.
Professor Nettleford is the Artistic Director of the NDTC. He is also Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies. Also on hand to lend their support were Jamaican-born New York State Assemblyman, Nick Perry and Jamaica’s Deputy Consul General to New York, Laura McNeil.The NDTC’s performances marked the end of Brooklyn Centre’s Caribbean Celebration Series. Jamaican Freddie McGregor performed earlier this year.
