NDTC for Caribbean Dance Celebration

Jamaicans in South Florida will be treated to performances of the National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC) at two shows this weekend. The shows are part of the annual ‘Caribbean Dance Celebration’.
In a presentation called ‘Dances of the African Diaspora’, the NDTC will be joined by troupes from Trinidad, Guyana, the Cayman Islands, St. Lucia, Belize, and Haiti. Also in performance will be several local companies from Florida, all performing contemporary Caribbean dance presentations.
The Caribbean Dance Celebration is an event rooted in African heritage with European influences and choreographed to tell stories of the Diaspora experience through movement, music and colourful costumes.
For this year, the Caribbean Dance Celebration will pay tribute to Haiti’s 200th anniversary of Independence.
The celebration begins on Friday, April 2 at the African Heritage Cultural Centre in South Florida.
Performances will be at the North Miami Beach Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, April 3, and the Coral Springs Civic Centre on Sunday, April 4.
